As Autumn is the season of change, we’re excited to unveil our fresh new brand, CitCom. 

Behind the scenes, our team have been working hard on giving our former Citizen brand a makeover and we are excited to now be able to share it with you! 


Let’s step back in time…



Citizen, now CitCom, was established in 1987 by three Kidderminster College tutors, CitCom began its journey as a video production agency. With a deep understanding of the industry, the founders aimed to put their teaching into practice by creating their own business. 

Starting from a small office in Kidderminster, CitCom quickly gained momentum with their first significant project for the Dixon stores group. The success of this venture led to exclusive contracts for training video production within the Dixons group, solidifying their position in the industry.

Over the years, CitCom has expanded its services and adapted to the evolving marketing landscape. A key milestone was the addition of Martin, our current CEO, who was hired as the company’s sole designer, marking the beginning of CitCom’s studio team. In 2004, the agency further diversified by establishing a digital team. 

One of CitCom’s most notable partnerships has been with EE/BT Group, which has spanned over three decades. We have collaborated with EE/BT on a wide range of projects to date, contributing to the company’s marketing efforts across various services.

The biggest change CitCom has seen since establishing itself in 1987, was during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before COVID-19, marketing wasn’t a primary focus for CitCom. However, as the world shifted to a more digital landscape, we recognised a growing need for effective marketing strategies. Adapting to the surge in digital technology, we identified a gap in the market that we were well-positioned to fill. This milestone marked a significant turning point for CitCom, leading us to where we are today.

CitCom has played a significant role in shaping the marketing industry. Our expertise in video production and the ability to adapt to changing trends have made us a respected player in the field. CitCom’s contributions to the industry have helped to elevate the standards of marketing and storytelling.

The Process…

Since being Citizen, we have often found great confusion with the large watch company “Citizen”, becoming evident that our brand identity needed to be more distinctive, in addition to this, on many occasions, we found clients referring to us as, CitCom, so it just made sense. As a collective, we also felt that our current brand image didn’t reflect our values, market position and our ever-evolving services. 

The primary goal of rebranding was to create a strong, more memorable brand that sets us apart from competitors. We desired a new brand identity that resonated with our target audience and accurately reflected our values and capabilities. 

The rebranding process involved extensive research and planning. By conducting market research to better understand our target audience, their preferences and the competitive landscape. Additionally, we explored various branding strategies and concepts to identify the most effective approach.  

This rebrand was a collaborative effort involving the entire team at CitCom. Our studio team played a crucial role in developing the new logo, website and overall visual identity. The development team worked on bringing you this new and improved website, showcasing all the services we have to offer. Our digital team, in conjunction with the rest, are behind all of our marketing efforts, in reference to social media, email marketing and SEO. Our marketing and sales team worked together with the CEO and Managing Director to define the brand’s positioning and messaging.

All these elements combined, collectively contribute to a more cohesive and distinctive brand identity that accurately represents CitCom and sets us apart in the market.

But other than that, nothing is drastically changing. We are still the same team with the same bold and innovative approach, the only thing that has changed is our brand now reflects this.
