Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has launched a new app called Threads which is available to download on the IOS and Android app store and is set to be a major competitor for Twitter. Here is everything you need to know…

Last week the new app launched with a groundbreaking 30 million sign-ups in the first 24 hours!

So what exactly is Threads? The app is designed for social media users to share text updates and join public conversations with followers all over the globe in real-time. It is a standalone app, but it is linked to your Instagram account. A number of brands, influencers and celebrities have already signed up for the app and we are loving it!

But what exactly is Threads? How does it work and how can you get an account? This is your ultimate guide to the app that is being dubbed the ‘Twitter killer’.

With the app being downloadable on IOS and Android devices it is accessible by pretty much anyone with it being available in more than 100 countries including the US, Britain, Australia, Canada and Japan.

This new app is, according to Meta, the app has been designed to be a space “where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you are interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favourite creators and others who love the same thing. “

The algorithm for Threads isn’t too heavy on ranking posts yet, but it does rank posts very lightly and will show recommendations in your feed.

So who is using Threads?

There are some pretty famous faces already on Threads including the Kardashians, of course, the apps owner Mark Zuckerberg, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and many brands such as PrettyLittleThing, Mcdonalds and Nike. From these brands and famous faces, we have witnessed some pretty epic Threads, here are some of our favourites.

How easy is it to sign up for Threads?

All it takes is an Instagram account!

Yes, it is that simple! To become a Threads user you will need an Instagram account, if you haven’t got an Instagram account already you can sign up for free. Once you have signed up for Instagram, logging into Threads is simple!

All Threads will do is pull all of your information from Instagram and create an account under the same username you use for Instagram as well as all of your bio information and profile picture. So it honestly couldn’t be easier to incorporate Threads into your marketing strategy

Once you are logged in you can choose to follow the same people you do on Instagram (if the users have Threads) or follow people individually. One thing to bear in mind is that if you want to delete your Threads account you will need to delete your entire Instagram account.

I think we can all agree that the new social media platform, Threads, is the new kid on the block that is going to cause a bit of a problem for competitor Twitter. With its surge of popularity, I think we are going to be seeing a lot more from Meta’s new app and we look forward to seeing what comes from this app.
