Social media is such a large landscape and can often feel overwhelming when it comes to navigating it. But don’t panic as we are here to help you navigate the scary world of social media with our 7 C’s of social media.

These seven essentials are your building blocks for crushing it online, whether you’re all about your personal brand or running a business.

So let’s crack on, shall we…

First of all, it starts with community

Who are you trying to reach? What are their interests and needs?

Making sure you identify your target audience is crucial for fostering meaningful connections and building new relationships.

Now, let’s talk about content

This is the heart and soul of your social media presence.

It can be informative, entertaining, or inspirational – the key is to provide value to your audience.

However, creating content from scratch isn’t the only option.

Content curation involves sharing valuable content created by others, showcasing diverse perspectives and enriching your audience’s experience. This can often be called user-generated content.

Speaking of creation, don’t shy away from creating your own unique content. This could be anything from blog posts and videos to infographics and even live streams. Get creative!

Social media thrives on connection. Respond to comments, answer questions, and participate in discussions. Building relationships with your audience fosters loyalty and trust.

Encourage conversation by asking questions, running polls, and hosting live chats. This two-way interaction keeps your audience engaged and allows you to gain valuable insights.

Finally, conversion

What is your ultimate goal on social media? Do you want to drive website traffic, increase sales, or build brand awareness?

Define your goals and tailor your strategy accordingly.

It is always important to remember that the 7 C’s are interconnected. Strong content attracts a community, which fosters conversation and connection, ultimately leading to conversion.

Now let us show you how to put it into practice: let’s use a local bakery as an example.

Community: The target audience is local residents with a sweet tooth, families with young children, and health-conscious individuals looking for fresh-baked treats.

Content: Curation: Share content that has already been published. Share mouthwatering photos and videos from food bloggers and local recipe creators. Creation: Create your own content. Post behind-the-scenes glimpses of baking processes, close-up shots of unique flavour combinations, and short videos introducing the bakers.

Connection: Respond to comments and messages, answer questions about ingredients and allergens, and run contests and giveaways to encourage interaction.

Conversation: Ask followers what their favourite seasonal flavours are, host live Q&A sessions with the head baker, and participate in relevant online communities like #baking and #supportlocal.

Conversion: Drive traffic to the bakery’s website or physical location by offering online ordering, highlighting special promotions, and showcasing customer testimonials.

And there you have it, the 7 C’s of smashing social media. By implementing these strategies into your social media efforts you can optimise your online presence. So next time you are looking into your social media strategy, always remember the 7 C’s!
